Encompass Board of Directors Job Description

The Encompass Board of Directors comprises 9 individuals who share the desire to see this organization of enterprise computing professionals succeed. Each year 3 directors are elected to serve. To be nominated, placed on the ballot and serve on the Encompass Board you must be able to substantiate the following:

  • You must be a member in good standing with Encompass (not sure if you are a member?) Email Us!
  • Substantial experience in two or more of the following business skills: budget management, strategic planning, marketing, project management, and presentation skills
  • Leadership skills: Experience in leadership in the workplace, of a volunteer organization, or in a user group or association
  • Willing to lend your industry expertise to help the organization become better and stronger
  • Have the desire to see Encompass succeed and a belief in the mission of the organization
  • Willing to commit the time needed to serve. How much time is required?
  • Be extensively involved in applying HP enterprise technologies to business requirements for your own organization or for your customers. You must anticipate remaining involved with HP enterprise technologies for at least the next three years.

General Responsibilities of an Encompass Board Member

  • Sets policy and strategic direction for Encompass
  • Always represents Board's decisions in a way that is consistent with the direction of the Board
  • Sets direction of Encompass' management firm to ensure that activities are carried out in accordance with Encompass' goals and objectives
  • Has fiduciary responsibilities for Encompass activities; reviews monthly financial statements
  • Maintains communication channels with HP and all levels of Encompass
  • Must act in accordance with Encompass' By-Laws & Policies
  • Must be able to represent Encompass to other user groups
  • Votes on issues presented to the Board of Directors
  • Must be able to act in any capacity as designated by the Board of Directors
  • Must understand the culture of the organization
  • Must act professionally and be responsible at all times
  • Will act as a mentor to an Encompass member who is considered as a potential candidate for the Board.
